Hypochondriasis (or hypochondria, sometimes referred to as health anxiety/health phobia) refers to an excessive preoccupation or worry about having a serious illness. Often, hypochondria persists even after a physician has evaluated a person and reassured him/her that his/her concerns about symptoms do not have an underlying medical basis or, if there is a medical illness, the concerns are far in excess of what is appropriate for the level of disease. Many people suffering from this disorder focus on a particular symptom as the catalyst of their worrying, such as gastro-intestinal problems, palpitations, or muscle fatigue.
Ok I admit it I am being a bit of a hypochondriac, ok I am one. I hate getting sick because
a) Being sick sucks
and b) I get nervous...ok really nervous like on the verge of freaking out.
The thing on my knee is freaking me. I thought it was a spider or mosquito bite but after talking to me dad (who is much too honest for his own good and did not help me calm down at all) I am worried it might be a staff infection.
I need to breathe.
I am freaking because this scares the shit out of me and I am trying to be calm but failing.
Hypochondriac?
Who?
Me!!!?
Never!!!!!
All right I am going to try not to hyperventalate and try to not freak out too much about this. I took medication and put calamine lotion on it. That says a lot considering how anti-med I am.
All right, all right...I am going to stop, I swear.
...
It's still scary as hell.
