Maybe I should not attempt to assume a parental role with Becky. Oh, how awkward tonight was. First I told her about me and M.D and made her promise not to tell L.M and D.M for my sake then I asked her if she understood what me and M.D's relationship meant, she nodded and shrugged. I looked at her doubtfully and painfully explained it to her. She seemed to get it and then we got on the subject of boys and that is when I mentally winced.
That child, she had to start off with one of the most difficult questions, how do you really know if you like another person? How was I supposed to explain that to her? I just told her is varied for each person and that with me I kind of just knew. I do not think that helped answer her question at all. Then we began discussing women's menstruation cycles and she cringed outwardly and had questions about whether or not it hurt and what a tampon was and what did I do when I first started.
She fidgeted a lot and kind of told me she really did not want to talk about sex but I asked her if she knew what safe sex was. I don't think I should have asked her...she kind of stuttered and said that she thought that it had something to do with a condom... Oh, my gosh this poor child thinks that sex is when you get naked and touch each other...she is so innocent and I don't want to take that from her but she is going to start changing into a young lady very soon and I am scared.
~takes a huge breath~
Oh, the upcoming conversations.....~shudders~
