On Happiness

The unexpected goodness of loving her is just how perfectly matched we are. I never knew how wonderful it would be to be with someone who loves all the same things that I love, who loves all things that I never really knew I could love. We have so much fun together, no matter what we are doing. A simple pre-work trip to the optometrist becomes an early morning date of giggling at all the silly frames, a side trip to the our favorite local thrift shop to pick out the perfect serving dishes for our many pets.  I can’t imagine a more perfect morning and what completely baffles me is that this type of morning isn’t rare! Just two days ago we left for an unplanned morning trip to a beautiful bakery where we indulged in delicious cream and fruit filled confections, laughed at our drasticly different preferences in coffee and went out searching for the perfect alter (which continues to elude us!).  I feel loved, wanted, safe and like I could live this life for the rest of my life. Every conversation we have when I mention a need or something I wish was different she is loving, kind and most of all listens instead of judges. She is always willing to improve our communication, always willing to hear out my anxieties, always kind and attentive to my needs. I feel as though I am living in a dream but the most wonderful part is this is my reality. I wake up next to the kindest person I have ever known, I kiss her perfectly curved shoulders and press myself against her back as she leans into my embrace, smiling a sleepy morning smile and I hear her happily say “good morning baby”. This is the woman that agreed to marry me, my future wife, the future mother of my children. Every bad thing of my past seems to have karmically equaled out to all the wonderful good that I experience being her partner. No matter where this relationship leads I will always cherish this present. I am so full of love that I find it spilling from me in excess. I want this happiness to last our lifetime.
