I met someone today, hopefully a potential friend. =)
Its funny and a little scary that she looks like and acts like A., well how A. was when I first met her.
Its really depressing how much she has changed since Seattle. I guess its inevitable when people change. I have changed too but at the same time I still retain those qualities that I had when I was fifteen.
Anyway, about S.
For the first time I have met someone that is innocent to the world that I went through and yet our stories are so similar. She grew up in white suburbia (just like A. might I mention) and had a loving family but she went through all that shame and awkwardness that I went through when discovering myself. I can relate to her so much.
Not only do we share that common background in our lives but we also share a lot of the same interests. Her favorite movie is Wizard of Oz and that was my all time favorite movie as a kid and now that I think about it, it still is. Every time I see it I fall in love with Judy Garland and her adventure through Oz.
Its nice to talk to someone who doesn't know everything about me. The conversation come easy because once she starts she doesn't really stop but its cool.
The only downer was when I told her about how I have M.D she seemed kind of depressed.
I don't think she has had a girlfriend since she came out to her parents because she seems as though she is still working on telling the people around her. She is used to an environment where bigotry and hatred would have been directed at her had she gave even the slightest hint at her sexual orientation. Although I have to say I don't see how she escaped it at all since she screams lesbian, at least to me she does.
I am glad that I am making friends, its been a while since I have had more then one friend at one time.
Its so much fun making friends!
