The Drowning Contamination of Finality

Sitting in my seat staring off into the sun, watching the love of my life finish her high school career with a simple walk down an aisle in white (no not a wedding I swear) I can feel the finality of it all sink deep into my skin. One year, one simple passing of three hundred and sixty five days and I too will be on that stage finishing a chapter in my life. A deep feeling of reluctance and anticipation fills me as I watch her walk toward her college life with diploma in hand.

Although her graduation did not start off as the family filled joy that most television shows portray (granted her family is not the picture perfect television love nor is anyones) it became sweet and full of that great laughter that fills everyone with the irresistible urge to smile and made you want bathe in the harmony of a close family.

This summer will be my sanctuary from the worries of next year.

Finals fill the closing of this year, teachers rush to fulfill their requirements for grading and appease their struggling students, thoughts rush through every mind like some drowning ocean of the coming summer and their present duties, finality, thick as lingering fog hangs in the air so heavy that instead of breathing it you drown in it. It pours out of every orifice of you body like some sick overflow of a fatal contamination.

Too heavy to breathe.

Finality....

I love you.

Thank you for being there.

And for letting me spend the summer with you.
